Wicked Musical Review Apollo Victoria Theatre

The blockbuster show, Wicked has gained entry into its 9th year at the magnificent Apollo Victoria Theatre. The show is an amalgamation of magic, infidelity, peer pressure and some chartbusting musical numbers. We have seen these themes several times, still love to watch the show. This is beautifully exhibits the power of Winnie Holzman’s writing which have been adapted from the Gregory Maguire’s novel.
The young minds have been forced to think about some of the major issues disguised in the form of romantic musical. The blockbuster show, Wicked is entirely different from the popular Judy Garland’s movie Wizard of the Oz. There is no similarity in both the works. The style, feel and intent of the award winning show is completely different from the Wizard of the Oz.
Wicked is the saga of friendship between Glinda and Elphaba who have completely different backgrounds. The narrative of Wicked is propelled with question of what establishes good and bad. The show also has various Oz characters such as ion, Tinman, Scarecrow, Flying Monkeys, Munchkins, and, of course, the Wizard.

New characters are also introduced which successfully have their contributions in manipulations, scheming, Flying monkeys and Wizards. Wicked London is wowing the audience in Broadway from the last one decade and seems to touch this landmark in London too. Stephen Schwartz’s memorable scores make the show a memorable experience. The spectacular production of Wicked is in its best and also the finest incarnation amongst the all. The Ensemble is stunning with brilliant production of thrilling vocal harmonies as well as effective along with there is disciplined picture of stage as well as dance routines.
With sharp lighting by Kenneth Posner, fresh costumes by Susan Hilferty and crisp sound by Tony Meola, the production seems in its ninth week not ninth year. Another major highlight of the blockbuster show is the outstanding performances of the cast. Savannah Stevenson in the portrayal of both Galinda and Glinda is remarkable. The current star cast of Wicked is in its best form and shape and gives complete value and justice to the role they are portraying.

The enjoyable London show Wicked is running with houseful shows at the Apollo Victoria Theatre London. The two hours and forty five minutes show, Wicked is the story of two witches who lives in the Wizard of Oz. The spectacular production makes the show a worthwhile experience for the theatre lovers.
Emma Hatton who is the portraying the role of Elphaba in the current production is simply outstanding.  Earlier, she was a standby for the role but her singing skills need a lot of appreciation. As she is playing the character quite often, Emma has settled herself fully in the role and also get enough opportunity to play Elphaba beautifully.
If you catch the recent production of Wicked the London, you will feel that Emma as Elphaba has become more rounded and credible. Interestingly, the singing skill has increased considerably and is certainly one of the finest singers.
On the other Sophie Linder Lee as Glinda is superb. Her singing skills need to be applauded as in the second song, which is one of the toughest, she has to run all over the stage and need to be electric. She has to finish the song with full of energy and she did it finely.
It’s a treat to watch both Emma and Sophie portraying as Glinda and Elphaba, as it’s nice to see them back together. The show has some lovely moments and has finely captured the friendship and familiarity of both the girls.
Melissa Jacques portrayed the role of Madame Morrible and brilliantly mimics the actual actor.
